Ishita Sharma

Full Name: Ishita Sharma
Height: 5’5”
Zodiac Sign: Aries
Favorite Color: Purple

I enjoy participating in a myriad of activities. My primary interests include spending time with my family, dancing (Bhangra and Bollywood), traveling, and sometimes playing tennis.

What are you doing presently?

I am presently situated in front of a laptop thinking deeply about what information I should provide to the Miss India DC pageant committee. Haha! Here is the real response. I am presently a junior that attends Robinson Secondary School. I am involved in many clubs and honor societies within my school some of which include: FBLA, NHS, and Body Peace Club. I am also a Girl Scout. I love leadership and do my best to obtain any leadership positions that I can. I am currently an NSHSS state ambassador. In the upcoming school year I will be an officer for Body Peace Club and will possibly become the Vice president of communications for NHS.

What are your future plans?

In the future I aspire to become an inspiration to others through leadership. Currently I am involved in an organization in my school called FBLA. FBLA is an acronym for “Future Business Leaders of America”. Through participation in this organization I have developed an interest in business and leadership. Although, I am uncertain about what specific job I want in the future, I am certain that I would like it to be in the realm of business. After obtaining a job that satisfies me, I hope to use the money that I earn from the job to do kind things for my family in return of their consistent support. Then I would like to get married and eventually start a family of my own.

Why do you want to participate in the pageant?

The pageant will act as platform that will enable me to not only synthesize my culture and talent but will also enable me to gain the perspective of a pageant contestant. This perspective will provide valuable insights that I will be able to consider as I continue my journey through higher education and through new social situations.

Talent you plan to do for pageant (Please include song name if doing a dance, this can be changed later):

I plan on doing a Bhangra and Bollywood fusion dance.
The possible songs are Nachange Saari Raat and Bullet vs Chammak Challo.

What 3 words sum you up?

What is an interesting fact about you that not many know?

When I was 6 years old I was diagnosed with typhoid fever. However, due to extensive medical care, a strict diet, and the support of my family I was able to overcome it and now am healthy and happy!

If you were a super hero, what would your super power be?

Not time travel. That’s a risk! Probably, the power of teleportation. Being able to remove myself and others from dangerous situations would be incredible.

If you could take three things to a deserted island what would they be and why?

1.) A compass- To give me an idea of the position that I am in and the direction that I need to head towards in order to reach civilization
2.) A life boat (equipped with food and water) to help me escape the island and return to civilization.

*if items one and two fail to return me then I will need the following item.

3) A genie in a bottle. This would be the final resort.

Most embarrassing moment:

Once in elementary school, on my way home, I missed my bus. Then the whole bus had to turn around and come back to get me. I appreciated the gesture and the efforts but was very embarrassed that each of the students had to unexpectedly return to school just for me. I am sorry for the inconvenience I guess? Haha.

Biggest inspiration:

My great uncle Madan Vasishta. He is a deaf author that immigrated to the United States as a result of his photography talents. He inspires me to continue to work hard because of the potential of result.

Worst nightmare:

Starvation… I love food.

If you knew today was your last day on Earth, how would you spend it?

With my family, at home making a last few meaningful memories.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten:

Everything happens for a reason.

Where do you hope to see yourself in 10 years?

I hope to see myself as someone who is really satisfied with the results of her hard work. Perhaps with a stable job in the field of business, spending time with good friends, and having the ability to support myself.
