Why you entered The Miss India-DC Pageant?
I entered The Miss India-DC Pageant as a learning experience and to showcase my talents. I believe pageants are a great way to meet new people and receive endless opportunities . This pageant is great opportunity to represent our diverse areas and connect to our culture.
What 3 words sum you up?
Three words that sum me up are determined, hard-working, and helpful.
Determined- I won’t give up until the job is done.
Hard-working– If I have a goal, I’ll stick to it and conquer everything and anything that comes in my way of achieving my goal. I’ll keep working until I’m fully satisfied with my end product.
Helpful- I love giving a helping hand to those who need it. Giving back to my community is what I love to do best.
What is an interesting fact about you that not many know?
I’m mixed with Caribbean & Indian. Also, I am an international finalist ranked top 16 in the world for DECA’s international career development conference.
If you were a super hero, what would your super power be?
My superpower would be to heal. Many people have incurable diseases and sicknesses. There’s physical and emotional sicknesses as well. Many around the world suffer from hunger, lack of shelter, and water. By having this power, I could help heal all of the suffering in the world and make a difference.
If you could take three things to a desert island what would they be and why?
I would take water, a survival kit, and Dora the Explorer. Water to keep me hydrated , a survival kit in order to help me survive in this unknown island, and Dora to help me find my way back home.
My biggest inspiration is my family. My father encourages me every day to strive for the best in life and to always stay positive and happy. Throughout his life he has stuck to this motto. Born and raised in Punjab, India he has worked hard and raised a beautiful happy family. My mother quit her job as a fashion designer to ensure my brother and I were raised properly. She always goes out of her way in order to make us happy. She’s my little cheerleader in everything I do. She’s not afraid to try new things in life. I get my confidence from her. Lastly is my big brother named Jessy. Giving up is not an option for him. He inspires me each and every day to go after my dreams. He always strives for the best and nothing less. My family is the reason why I succeed in everything I do. They all provide me with inspiring stories and wise advice. They are my biggest supporters and I’m blessed to have such a wonderful family.
Best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten:
With God everything is possible.
Where do you hope to see yourself in 10 years?
I hope to see myself as a graduate from John Hopkins University with a masters degree. Hopefully with one of my many dream jobs and starting a beautiful family.
