Shreeya Chowdhury, a freshman at Temple University, pursuing dance and business. Shreeya is deeply rooted in a variety of dance forms. She has been training for 13 years in Bharatanatyam and Ballet. She is also trained in, Modern, Jazz, Bollywood, Bhangra, and bengali folk. Over the years Shreeya has attended many prestigious ballet summer intensives at The Carolina School of Ballet, The Washington School of Ballet and was selected for the The Suzanne Farrell Ballet company at the Kennedy Center. She has also attended rigorous summer dance workshops with Sri N. Srikanth. This past July, Shreeya successfully completed her Bharatanatyam Arangetram. Just this year alone, Shreeya has had the honor of being invited for solo performances at the Kennedy Center and in Marin Alsop’s Turangalila with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at Strathmore and the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Tomorrow, Shreeya will be traveling to India, to perform at multiple locations, by invitation from the Indian Council of Cultural Relations, a Govt of Indian endeavor and will be completing another solo bharatanatyam performance at Kalamandalam Kolkata
From a very young age Shreeya has been involved in philanthropic activities, by staging fundraising dance and drama events and performing in senior centers and hospitals. Shreeya gets utmost joy from performing at senior centers and hospitals, as she gets to share the beauty of dance with others. She also served as a judge for the 2019 Clarksburg Dance Competition. Last year, Shreeya placed as 1st runners up at Miss India DC, going on to nationals where she placed top 10 and won the title of Miss India USA Miss Photogenic. Shreeya strongly believes that with the Miss India DC platform she can reach a wide range of people who she can inspire and further share the bliss of dance with.
