Why you entered The Miss India-DC Pageant?

I entered this pageant to help me grow out of my shell a little and I also see it as a learning experience. I hope this pageant will help open up my eyes for new opportunities while also helping me to reach out to other Indian girls out there and hopefully I can be a good role model for them.

What 3 words sum you up?

Bold, Exuberant, Quirky

What is an interesting fact about you that not many know?

I was born in India and moved a total of 7 times in my life. I went to 6 different elementary schools from New York, to California, to New Jersey, and lastly to Virginia.

If you were a super hero, what would your super power be?

If I were a superhero and I could have one power, it would be the power to heal. To be able to do things like mend a broken heart, to curing an illness, all with one single touch.

If you could take three things to a desert island what would they be and why?

I would take my soul mate (whoever he may be) because being alone is one of my biggest fears. I would also take something on the lines of a weapon such as a bow and arrow, only to serve as protection if needed. Lastly, I would bring as much food as possible because without food, I am nothing.

Most embarrassing moment:

I honestly am such a clutz that I don’t get embarrassed anymore and have just embraced it. Although, this one time when I was in fourth grade, I went to India with my mom for my uncle’s wedding and at the wedding there was a lady there who was wearing something similar to my mom and was about the same height as her. I was standing behind her so I though she was my mom so I went up from behind her and gave a huge hug and called her ma, only to realize she was some complete stranger.

Worst nightmare:

My worst nightmare would be being trapped in a room with snakes.

Biggest inspiration:

My biggest inspiration is Jennifer Lawrence because she’s not afraid to be herself and speak out for herself. She serves as an amazing role model for girls everywhere because instead of stressing the way a person should look or eat or how they should act, she encourages girls to not worry about any of that and to just be who you are and do what makes you happy.

If you knew today was your last day on Earth, how would you spend it?

I would spend it doing things with the people I love, my friends and family.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten:

This isn’t exactly a piece of advice per say but something that I live by is to never judge anyone based on what others tell you, because nobody ever knows what a person has truly been through in life and there is beauty in everyone, you just need to open your eyes to see it.

Where do you hope to see yourself in 10 years?

I hope to be simply happy wherever I am, whether I achieve my dreams or not; whether I’m in committed relationship or still single; whether I’m rich or barely scraping along. I just wish to be happy and know that I am doing some good in this world.
