Siddhi Kodolikar

Age: 18
Height: 5’ 1”

I absolutely love music; I play piano, guitar, and sing (Hindustani, and western music). I love reading, and I play soccer as well! I am extremely interested in Aerospace sciences. Participating in rocketry competitions and going through the Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars (VASTS) program really spurred on my interest in this field. I also love painting and really enjoy baking! Additionally, I like to create jewelry every now and then — whether it is for my mom, or I am selling it to others.

What are you doing presently?

I am currently studying at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a Major in Business Information Technology, and a minor in Computer Science. I am also interning at NASA LaRC over the summer. I am part of an Acapella group on campus, and I am perusing music on the side by creating Youtube videos and performing whenever I get the chance to!

Future Plans:

My plans for the future are to graduate from Virginia Tech with my major in Business Information Technology, and minor in Computer Science while having studied abroad for a semester. I also hope to intern at NASA for the next few summers as well! In addition to this, I want to be able to continue to be passionate for music and perform whenever and wherever I can!

Why you entered The Miss India-DC Pageant?

I want to participate in the pageant because it would be a wonderful way to present myself and my talent on a platform that celebrates each women as an individual. It would be a great experience, and I would get to meet intelligent and talented ladies who might have similar interests as me.

What 3 words sum you up?

What is an interesting fact about you that not many know?

An interesting fact about me that not many people know, is that I have been trained in Hindustani classical vocal music, as well as western classical vocal music. As I was learning music, I realized that I didn’t want to limit myself to one style or one language. I started dabbling in Hindustani classical and Western classical music in addition to modern Hindustani and Western music, and learned techniques for each style and performed each style of music.

If you were a super hero, what would your super power be?

I have always thought that it would be incredible to have the ability to read minds. I would use this ability to find out true intentions and in turn take action to either help a person, or notify someone if a person’s intentions are not good.

If you could take three things to a deserted island what would they be and why?

Going about this question practically, i would bring a compass, a water filter, and a knife — I would use these as tools for survival. A compass to navigate. A water filter to help supply myself with the basic necessity of clean, pure, water, and last but not least, a knife to help with food, and to defend myself if need be.

But looking at this question in a different, more comforting way, I would bring my IPod, photographs of loved ones, and my guitar. My IPod, so that I can listen to music, the photographs to look at loved ones, and my guitar so that I can make music. All three of these items would serve to be comforting and reminiscent.

Most embarrassing moment:

I tend to fall and run into things quite often, and one such moment happened in high school. I was running late to class because I had been talking to a teacher. In order to make it on time, I tried running up the busy, student-filled staircase to my classroom only to trip and fall flat on my face. It was pretty embarrassing, and definitely hurt a bit too!

Biggest inspiration:

My father is my biggest inspiration. He is the most hard working person I know. He works so hard to provide for my family on a daily basis, yet makes time to spend with us and help us nurture and grow. He is always eager to learn, has a kind heart, and is always there for those who need him. He is strong, and is the wall everyone leans on. He has so many good qualities and characteristics, and I look up to those and him. he has taught me so much about the world and constantly serves to be an inspiration to me.

Worst nightmare:

Not being able to give back to the world, and the community. I have been given so much in this world, and I am so grateful for it. My worst nightmare would be not being able to give back and help others, not being able to make a difference for the better in the world.

If you knew today was your last day on Earth, how would you spend it?

I would spend my day doing three different things. I would spend time with my family and loved ones, fix any bad relationships with anyone and forgiving, and give back to the community by helping those in need and serving the community in any way that I can.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten:

Life your life, and do what makes you happy. Each person has their life to live, so why waste it doing something that doesn’t make you happy, or by being someone that you don’t want to be? Live your life, and do what makes you happy.

Where do you hope to see yourself in 10 years?

I hope to see myself having an established job at NASA as a manager while doing music on the side for pleasure, and performing as much as I can.
